Logistics concept for a fully automated series production

Situation:

The task was to develop a comprehensive logistics concept for the fully automated series production of solid-state flow energy storage systems. Limited space posed a significant challenge, particularly in ensuring line supply, production, final assembly, and storage.

Objectives:

• Planning the inbound logistics chain, internal logistics areas, warehouse structure, logistics processes, material flows, and the necessary workforce, infrastructure, and equipment.

• Maximizing the digitalization and automation of processes.

• Developing a complete logistics concept and supply chain calculation, as well as a concept for industrialization.

Challenges:

• Defining the bill of materials to calculate the supply chain and storage space required for daily production.

• Considering existing system resources when designing the material flow and logistics concept (internal/external warehouses, supermarket).

• Layout planning with limited space, using high racks and standardized containers, along with strategic delivery routes for suppliers.

Achievements:

• Successfully completed process mapping, development of a material flow concept, and resource planning using MTM (Methods-Time Measurement).

• Optimized logistics planning through improved packaging and reduced space usage, along with efficient delivery concepts.

• Consolidated planning results with detailed investment and implementation plans.

Conclusion:

The developed logistics concept enabled efficient and automated series production, overcoming space limitations. Strategic optimization of material flow and resources laid the foundation for a scalable and future-proof production environment.
