Manager Customer Project Management

Situation:

At the start of the project, the company was facing the absence of a functioning project management system (PMS). Around 80% of customer projects were behind schedule, and there was a lack of structured, regular communication regarding project status within the organization. These shortcomings led to inefficient project handling, negatively impacting the entire production and development process.

Project Period:

May 2021 – January 2022

CONSOTIUS Mandates:

• Manager Customer Project Management / PMO DE & PL

• Project Management Expert

Objectives:

• Resolve all critical path issues by the end of 2021 (>150 individual topics)

• Implement a project management (PM) software

• Introduce a company-specific product development process (PEP)

• Train project managers

Challenges:

• Lack of process-driven project handling

• No plan for implementing PEP and PM software

• Silo mentality across departments

• Integration of other sites, particularly in Poland and the USA, into project execution

Achievements:

• Implementation of PM software, including an automated escalation process to all hierarchy levels

• Establishment of regular communication with all departments

• Completion of 20 open customer projects into series production by December 2021

• Resolution of all critical path issues by the end of 2021

• Introduction of Project Management Excellence (PME)

Conclusion:

The project management system saw significant improvements through the implementation of structured processes and tools. Critical project issues were successfully addressed, resulting in a substantial boost in project efficiency. The introduction of PM software and regular communication routines ensured lasting improvements in project management.
